The food in the Lido is mostly the same as what is served in the dining room. There are a few items served in the dining room that aren't served in the Lido but very few. The Lido is really good food.

Day 1 of my retirement I would like to be on a cruise and that can be only the one or up to and beyond ten cruises. I have zero debt, 2 grown kids, no pets….Wow!🎉🎉🎉 Teach me how if possible?…. I always thought holland was just old white people (nothing wrong with that maybe I am one 🤣) but your vid opened my eyes. Very diverse and the staff are genuinely friendly and professional. I have to say, the Crows Nest” where you get to see where the ship is going, sounds like that would be an interesting spot. The more footage of the food, the better it looks, “suckling pig”…, and lol, “shrimps” 😂😂 I need to check that ship out!!! The decor gives a homey feel. I would love a back to back to back on there! I went on Holland America about 20 years ago- my kids were about 10 and 14. It definitely was the wrong time in our life to do that cruise. However, I am looking for rest and relaxation in this phase of my life. May be time to try Holland again!

Hi Lynnelle. I was on the Zuiderdam in November 2024 (11/8 - 12/4 back to back) and I agree that it is a very relaxing ship. You missed out not trying the dining room because that food was wonderful also. I didn't find your special hiding spot, unfortunately. I would have enjoyed it too. I was worried about the passenger ages also but found the older crowed to be very nice. You didn't mention the Orange Party in your video. Did you attend?

It's something to catch if you cruise with them again. I was told that there is an Orange Party on each ship's sailings. ps: I love what you are doing! Safe travels.
I have cruised six times on Holland America, and will be on the Zuiderdam in May. I find they have very few children. I love the size of the ships and I love the main dining room, and they typically have very good ports.
@kittyboo2121 They are open at sea, but closed when we are in a port that's not their private island or when we are back in U.S. waters. We were heading back to Ft. Lauderdale so, yeah. Plus, you have to cash out before the cruise ends and that was the last night of the cruise so, I couldn't just save it for the next day.

Yes, I have answered those in detail in other videos, but in short: There are doctors on board, it costs about $200 minimum for a visit and I would only go in an absolute emergency. Mind you that I am a healthy 53 year old and I am back on U.S. land every week. As far as transportation, I include those details in my monthly expense videos...flights, trolleys, subway trains, Brightline train, city bus, Uber, hotel shuttles, street cars, family, etc. As you catch up on the videos and stay tuned for upcoming content, I hope to answer anything that comes up, but feel free to engage here in the comments. I would think you could find more than an orange for breakfast. There should be food available anytime of some sort. At the all inclusive we stayed at we got food whenever we wanted. I did the Disney cruise I thought food was available all the time but it has been a long time so maybe I wrong.

Also, there are other food venues where you can buy specialty items [premium coffee, pastries, steakhouse, Italian, etc]. You CAN go on a cruise and leave your wallet at home. There's enough complimentary food thats included in the fare. All of those other things are extra! 🤗
I say that to avoid the question of "did you have to pay extra for that" as MOST of the food on the cruise ship is included with the cruise fare and therefore is complimentary. Sometimes (rarely) I might buy a specialty food item that is NOT included so there is an extra charge. Everything I ate on THIS cruise was included in the cruise fare (complimentary) but on some cruises, I have purchased items like chicken wings from room service and then I let you know how much extra it costs. I wanna try Princess or Royal Caribbean but Ive only been on Carnival about 15 cruises over the last 18 years. I get free balcony and suites on Carnival. I gamble...HARDCORE 🤑🤑 but wanna try other cruise lines so I can get cheap/free cruises. I plan to cruise the world in late 2025/2026

Wow - I have been primarily a Carnival cruiser but this really makes me want to go on a holland cruise now.
I agree with you. I might have to check this ship out because I’m 100% Carnival.
Heck, I’ve mostly sailed Celebrity and this looks great. Especially the thermal spa, the pool in there looks heavenly.
